We are nearing the half-point in 2019 and MESA-OUTREACH is making a big difference in our community.  Here are some of the highlights through the end of April.

Adult ESL Spring Semester 2019 – 91 students from 11 different countries learning how to speak, read and write English as their Second language. These classes instill hope and proficiency to complete job applications, resumes, paperwork for their children’s schools, and some have even gone on to pass their citizenship exams.MESA Volunteers continue to partner with Houston reVision to mentor youth each Tuesday night. The Food Pantry has provided on average 6,982 pounds of milk, meat, and non-perishable food and 11,453 pounds of produce to 289 families (Average 1338 individuals) each month (Jan-April 2019).Our Buddy Backpack Program delivers an average of 380 backpacks filled with food each month to 6 Katy ISD Elementary schools to provide weekend food for children who would not have food throughout the weekend, during the school year.OUR PROGRAMS TRULY MAKE A DIFFERENCE, THEY ARE CHANGING LIVES.

Recently, Steve Herold, a faithful MESA Food Pantry volunteer, encountered a former MESA Food Pantry client at Walmart.  Here’s their conversation that he related to us:  “A young woman came up to me and said: “God bless you.”  I turned, introduced myself and she told me her name was Maria.  I asked how she knew me and Maria responded that her family came to the Pantry for about a year and a half.  She showed me her very full shopping cart and said that now her family was doing well, but was very grateful to those at the Pantry for the help they received when they needed it, as, without the Pantry, it would have been very hard for them to make it.  Maria asked me to thank everyone and keep going, as she knows of other families we help.  Maria made me me smile big time!”  Thanks to Steve and the many MESA Volunteers and supporters, MESA is helping our neighbors in time of need and building a stronger community.

SUMMER IS COMING AND WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Funding for all of these programs, plus our scheduled summer programs is putting a strain on our finances.  We have all been presented with a great opportunity to double our donations for the summer.  MESA-OUTREACH has received a generous offer from several anonymous donors.  They will match contributions up to a total of $15,000 dollars.

Every dollar you contribute will turn into two toward a total of $30,000 dollars that will greatly support our summer programs and ongoing ESL, Food Pantry and reVision activities.  Their generous offer is good through July 31, 2019.  Please help MESA continue helping others by donating now to MESA-OUTREACH.  Your check may be mailed to MESA-OUTREACH, INC. at P.
